I remember as a kid I admired people who could draw and render animals, with just a pencil strokes, but as years goes by, my love and curiosity for art alone are not enough, so I seek for more ways to inspire me and appreciate art by immersing myself to some other medium, and I found out that pastel can really add something to my animals artwork as it has colors which can give life to your drawing aside from contenting myself from pencil alone. I can assure you that if you try this, you will be amazed with it. So read it from start to finish, the first part is about what to expect in Pastel art, styles and techniques, and a discussion of colors, tips to remember, and how to render Pastel using Brushes, which is the key for rendering and blending Pastels. And by the way if you want to learn how to render using Charcoal after you learned everything from this eBook, check our other Charcoal Titles- Learn How to Draw Portraits of People in Charcoal for the Beginner (Learn to Draw), Learn How to Draw Landscapes In Pencil and Charcoal For The Absolute Beginner (Learn to Draw), Learn How to Draw Portraits of African Animals in Charcoal For the Beginner (Learn to Draw). Why Pastel? If you may ask, how do I learn this art, it started when I was learning to render Charcoal, as Charcoal was for gray tone values, I asked myself one day, if you know how to use Charcoal, why not learn Pastels? So I decided to add color to my artworks, by learning to use Pastels for my colored artworks, as what I had seen (and also adapt some of their style) in some artist who uses it and earn their living by accepting commissioned works from their clients (it’s not a bad idea if after all if that’s what you are thinking or planning in your life- So my advice to you- “be skillful and confident by learning and practice all the exercises from this eBook”). The purpose of this small book is to teach art students right-hand facts on the painting of landscape. Having had long experience in this branch of art, I feel confident I can suggest certain rules and give advice that will help them in avoiding mistakes and eliminate many difficulties so common with beginners in all lines of work. A book of this kind contains many instructive suggestions, it leads toward the proper method of producing varied effects and is actually as compact and good as a book costing several times as much. While an art book cannot make an artist, it can, no doubt, help students in planning their compositions, teach them to differentiate between this method or the opposite method in producing certain effects.

In the 1720s and 1730s, Jean-Baptiste Oudry established himself as the preeminent painter in France of hunts, animals, still lifes, and landscapes. Oudry’s Painted Menagerie focuses on a suite of eleven life-size portraits of exotic animals from the royal menagerie at Versailles, painted by Oudry between 1739 and 1752. These paintings eventually found their way into the ducal collection in Schwerin, Germany. Among them is the magnificent portrait of Clara, an Indian rhinoceros who became a celebrity in mid-eighteenth-century Europe. Her portrait has been out of public view for more than a century, and it is presented here in its newly conserved state.
