The four volumes of Augustine's complete letter corpus, expertly translated by Ronald Teske, SJ, represent a treasure trove of insights into the mind and heart of the Bishop of Hippo. Now, this one-volume compilation brings to the forefront the most essential of Augustine's correspondence. The Essential Letters volume in the series of Augustine's complete works features a rich selection from the Bishop of Hippo's extensive surviving correspondence. Following an informative introductory chapter by Augustine scholar Przemyslaw Nehring, the letters are then arranged in categories that focus on Augustine in his different roles, for example, as philosopher, theologian, exegete, and monastic founder. These writings display Augustine’s wide-ranging concerns with a similarly wide range of correspondents and often provide a glimpse of his character that cannot be obtained in his other writings, not even in The Confessions.

From the world-renowned physicist and bestselling author of The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos, a captivating exploration of deep time and humanity's search for purpose In both time and space, the cosmos is astoundingly vast, and yet is governed by simple, elegant, universal mathematical laws. On this cosmic timeline, our human era is spectacular but fleeting. Someday, we know, we will all die. And, we know, so too will the universe itself. Until the End of Time is Brian Greene's breathtaking new exploration of the cosmos and our quest to understand it. Greene takes us on a journey across time, from our most refined understanding of the universe's beginning, to the closest science can take us to the very end. He explores how life and mind emerged from the initial chaos, and how our minds, in coming to understand their own impermanence, seek in different ways to give meaning to experience: in story, myth, religion, creative expression, science, the quest for truth, and our longing for the timeless, or eternal. Through a series of nested stories that explain distinct but interwoven layers of reality-from the quantum mechanics to consciousness to black holes-Greene provides us with a clearer sense of how we came to be, a finer picture of where we are now, and a firmer understanding of where we are headed. Yet all this understanding, which arose with the emergence of life, will dissolve with its conclusion. Which leaves us with one realization: during our brief moment in the sun, we are tasked with the charge of finding our own meaning. Let us embark.

It is intended as an aid to other lay persons to obtain a better and truer understanding of scriptures as contained in contempory translations of the Bible. Special emphasis is given to the unfolding of God’s endtimes scenario, as foretold by Jesus Christ in His Olivet Discourse, and as further outlined in the Book of Revelation. A special 8 page recap of this prophecy is provided.

When our ancestors gazed upon the skies thousands of years ago they looked up into the center of Creation and saw a mighty Dragon, a great celestial serpent with wings circling ceaselessly above them, night after night, century after century. When the Dragon Wore the Crown is a ground breaking book that covers a period of over six thousand years, focusing on what astrologers would call the Ages of Gemini, Taurus and Aries and taking us through the period of classical astronomy with the Greeks and Romans (approx. 7000 BC-200 AD). When the Dragon Wore the Crown opens and closes with the Chinese mythological tradition and touches on Sumerian, Babylonian, Phoenician, Hindu, Norse, Native American and even Mayan myths, weaving together many of their celestial serpentine similarities. It focuses primarily on the role of the constellation Draco, the astronomical marker of the North Celestial Pole for literally thousands of years. The importance of this simple astronomical observation helped facilitate the study of the calendar, navigation, farming and social organization. The circuit of the seasons was marked by this cadence with the moving center guarding the position of the zodiacal circle for literally thousands of years. The secret of the circle was hidden in its center. The one had to be determined before the other. If the true center was not accurately observed and determined, the entire circle was off. This is a beautiful and informative book of discovery, following the mythology of various cultures as it evolved into modern astronomy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Christ himself warns us to not to believe a secret rapture. Rapture will happen only after Israel becomes a Christian nation. Two olive trees and two lampstands, representatives of the church during tribulation. The church knows the times of his coming back. It’s not anti-Christ being withheld. Noah and Lot’s days, an evidence for public coming. The Day of the Lord will come as a thief even after the so-called secret rapture. Resurrection of the people of God and the end of the world will happen on the same day. The Second Advent accompanied by loud command, the voice, and the trumpet of God, and resurrection occurs at the same moment is a solid prove for the public coming. For the church, rapture day is not an immediate surprising day. Meaning of nobody knows the day or the hour. Meaning of the idiom of carcass and the vultures. The Day of the Lord is the day Paul awaits for the crown of righteousness. An immediate cosmic change occurs at the rapture. Rapture will be a visual event. Rapture will happen on the last day of human history. The second raw resurrection happens at the end of the tribulation. Our gathering unto him in the air will happen only after the man of lawlessness appear. The wedding of the Lamb occurs after tribulation. Surprising invitees. The earth, venue for the marriage supper of the Lamb - Such truths are being discussed in this book.

My interest in the history of the Struve family is long-standing but lay dormant until 1972, when I found myself organizing a symposium of the International Astronomical Union in memory of the second Otto Struve. To satisfy my own curiosity, I investigated the precise relationships of the famous astronomers in the family and published an account of them, based mainly on secondary sources. The exercise made me a ware that there was no biography in English of the first and probably still the greatest astronomer in the clan - Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve. Wilhelm's son, the first Otto, wrote an account (in German) of his father's life, intended primarily for family and close friends and --though printed-- not generally available. Through the kindness of a family member I have a copy from which I have been able to work. The Soviet historian of science, Z. K. Sokolovskaya, wrote a biography in Russian, in 1964, to mark the centenary of Wilhelm's death. This had a limited edition, and my efforts to obtain a copy failed. Neither work has, in its entirety, been translated into English, although Michael Meo of Oakland, California, and Kevin Krisciunas of Hilo, Hawaii, have kindly made available to me their unpublished translations of some sections of the latter. In the of a complete copy, however, when I decided to attempt an English absence language biography, I thought it best to do so independently of Sokolovskaya's.
